Basic Rules of Roulette
Roulette is a remarkably simple game to understand. The dealer spins the wheel, and the ball is released in the opposite direction. When the wheel comes to a stop, the ball lands on one of the numbered slots from 0–36 (or 0 and 00 for American). You win if your bet covers that number.
Numbers on the Wheel: European and French Roulette have 37 slots (0 to 36). American Roulette has 38 slots, with an additional 00 (double zero) slot. The 0 and 00 slots are green; the remaining numbers alternate between red and black in a specific sequence.
Bet Types: There are two main categories — inside bets, which cover specific numbers and offer higher payouts, and outside bets, which cover more numbers but pay out less. Beginners typically start with outside bets, as the chances of winning are higher.
Round Process: The dealer announces "Place your bets" and all players have a set amount of time to position their chips on the table. Once time is up, the dealer announces "No more bets" and releases the ball. The result is then announced and winnings are paid out.
